Seasonal Illuminations of Chionin Temple 2006

Friday, November 10, 2006 – Saturday, December 2, 2006

Hyatt Regency Kyoto is offering free entrance tickets for in-house guests to witness the Illuminations of Chionin Temple,
between November 10th and December 2nd, 2006.
Chionin Temple is located in the Higashiyama district and is the main temple of the Jodo sect of Japanese Buddhism.
The Jodo sect was founded by Honen in the year 1175, and Chionin Temple was built in 1234.
Due to repeated earthquakes and fires, the oldest buildings which can currently be seen, only date from the 17th century.

As one enters through Sanmon Gate, one of Japan’s National Treasures and Japan’s largest temple gate,
one is faced with the beauty of Mie-do, Yuzen-en, and the Temple’s magnificent Japanese Garden,
all illuminated for the occasion. Jazz or Classical concerts are also held from Thursdays to Sundays during the Illuminations.

Open: 17:30 – 21:00
Entrance Fees: Adults 800 yen, Children 400 yen

*Please kindly be informed that a limited number of tickets are available for the Illuminations of Chionin Temple.
