TEXT:   A rehearsal is held on the 8th in preparation for Crow Sumo wrestling held on the 9th.  “Choyo” means “double nine.”  It is believed that people once drank chrysanthemum sake on this day to ward off trouble.  A priest holding a bow and arrow leaps in a sideways motion and emits a cawing sound like a crow.
After the performance, child parishioners dressed in mawashi belts engage in a lively wrestling.
