| TEXT: | On the eve of the main festival day, there will be a parade of welcoming paper lanterns and a “Yudate Kagura” ritual (a ceremony consisting of prayers and Shinto dance). On the main festival day of the 23rd, a marching band of 500 members will parade through the Nishijin area. The Ishin Boys Marching Band will lead the way, with Hoko, Yaotome and Mikoshi following, similar to Jidai Matsuri, one of the three largest festivals in Kyoto. |
