| TEXT: | During the beauty of autumn, the Stage of Kiyomizu is paraded around the temple grounds while monks blow giant seashell horns. On the stage stand Tenposhu, a number of gods including Ebugyo, Yashajin, Shitenno and a blue dragon, as well as Jurokuzenjin. Seiryu-e, performed as Kannon Kaji (the Goddess of Mercy’s incantation performance), began in 2000 on the day of the public showing of the temple’s principal image. While the newness of this event attracts visitors, it is also now known as “the new face” of Kiyomizu Temple. |
