| TEXT: | A series of festivals known as the Awata Festival includes “Oidematsuri” and “Yowatari Shinji” on the Oct. 8, “Shinkosai” and “Kankosai” on the Oct. 9, and “Reitaisai” on Oct. 15. During “Shinkosai”, the audience is astonished to see Japanese heroes march through Kyoto, each shouldering 40 to 60 kg of the Ken Boko, which is in the original style of the Yama Boko float used in the Gion Festival, as they ring bells. |
