| TEXT: | The temple was built by Kitano Mandokoro Nene and dedicated to her husband Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who unified Japan in the 16th century. Their buildings include Kaizan-do, Otama-ya (mausoleum), Kasa-tei, Shigure-tei, Omote-mon (front gate), and Kangetsu-dai, which are designated as important cultural treasures of Japan. During this special opening night in autumn, the whole temple is lighted up while spectators enjoy the magnificent scenery of red leaves reflecting on the surface of the pond. |
