| TEXT: | In olden days, cerise was called “Hanezu,” and the red plum trees of the Zuishin-in Temple are still named after this ancient title. The Hanezu-odori dance is based on a tragic story of a pilot officer Fukakusa who loved a beautiful poet who lived in this region, Ono-no-komachi. It is not known when exactly this dance originally started, but in 1973, it became an annual event to announce the coming of spring. |
