TEXT:		Shoren-in Monzeki Temple is one of the five Kyoto monzeki temples belonging to the Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple of the Tendai sect, and it is also called “Awada Gosho” (Awada Imperial Palace). Every year the temple is open to the public at night in spring and autumn. Its principal image of Shijokou-nyorai is called the Buddha of Light, and artistic lighting within the temple guides you into a subtle yet profound world.
