| TEXT: | This grand event hosts worshippers from branch Inari shrines all over Japan, who gather to offer prayers to the shrine’s deity in appreciation of their daily happiness. Manto Shinji is held during Yoimiya (July 22), and thousands of stone and paper lanterns light up the shrine’s grounds and Inari mountain. In addition, some 400 drawings of paper lamp shades (andon) done in the traditional style are exhibited in and around the shrine’s outside oratory, while the Motomiya dance is performed in the open space in front of Sanshuden. |
