| TEXT: | In 1374, Kanami, the great masters of the Noh play, and his son Zeami, performed “Imakumano Shrine Ritual Sarugaku” in front of the third Ashikaga Shogun Yoshimitsu at Imakumano-jinja Shrine, which was the beginning long prosperity for the Noh play. Tsunakake Matsuri Festival is also held in this shrine. To wish good luck in the coming year, the shrine parishioners bind the Okusunuki (big camphor tree), which is over 900 years old, with the big holy rope. The rope forms approximately 15 meters long and 15 centimeters in diameter. This is surely a gallant, seasonal event for the year-end. |
