| TEXT: | Along with Daimonji Gozan Okuribi, Arashiyama Toronagashi is widely known as a symbol of late summer in Kyoto. After a prayer service at Nakanoshima Park beside Togetsukyo Bridge, Toronagashi begins with lanterns being placed on the water. One after another, the lanterns are reflected on the water, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Toronagashi can be enjoyed from sunset to 21:00 with Daimonji (pictograph for shrine gate and “dai” character) visible in the distance. |
