TEXT:   This autumn special exhibition features the works of Eitoku Kano, including five National Treasures, nine Important Cultural Assets, and four Art Treasures. Kano’s remarkable talent made him the most prominent artist of the Momoyama era (late 16th century), a period that saw Japanese painting reach its peak. The highlight of this exhibition is the premiere of the newly discovered Kano work Rakugai Meisho Yuraku-zu Byobu. The painting depicts farm workers enjoying a party with Byodoin Temple and Mt. Arashiyama in the background. This exhibition is being held only in Kyoto.
