| TEXT: | This festival is held each year on Children’s Day (May 5) at Imakumano Shrine. An elegant portable shrine, known as Horen (the emperor’s vehicle) and featuring Chinese phoenix, weaves through the Imakumano streets followed by a parade of drum and fife bands and child warriors. A lion dance, a variety of street stalls and children’s excited laughter all add to the joy of the festival. |
