This festival celebrates young people who turn 20 years old this year and enter adulthood.  In the Hon-den Hall, the new adults offer their prayers and say their vows to wish for divine protection for their new lives.  After the main festival, the chief priest gives a congratulatory speech.  Starting at 14:00, Genpuku Ceremonies (historical Coming-of Age ceremonies) for the nobles of the Heian period, warriors in the Kamakura period and the common people of Edo are acted out. You can learn about the historical Coming-of Age ceremonies that are rarely seen today.
