| TEXT: | The history of ikebana (traditional Japanese flower arrangement) is the history of the soul of the Japanese. Originating from the custom of offering flowers to Buddha, ikebana is closely related to the tea ceremony and has a long history of development in line with the development of Japanese tastes. Kyoto is known as the capital of a thousand-year history, and its rich history and culture have produced a number of ikebana masters. The Exhibition of Ikebana Styles in Kyoto is held in the concourse of JR Kyoto station, the entrance to Kyoto. Ikebana by the masters of Kyoto’s renowned ikebana schools add vivid color to the Kyoto winter and welcome arriving visitors to Kyoto. From January 16 to March 18, six ikebana displays from two ikebana schools are exhibited each week, with arrangements from 18 schools in total being displayed. Enjoy viewing a variety of beautiful and elegant floral arrangements. |
