| TEXT: | A morning market for tourists is held annually on the last Saturday and Sunday of February in Okazaki Park and Heian-jingu Shrine, both of which are prominent cultural sights in Kyoto. You can discover all kinds of Kyoto specialties, ranging from food to traditional performing arts, at the market. In addition to Kyoto vegetables and souvenirs, local specialty products from Sho-kyoto (little Kyotos), which are found throughout the country, are sold here. You can also enjoy street performances, such as nankin tamasudare (bamboo screen juggling) and gama no aburauri (toad oil vendor sword tricks), and a special exhibition of the ox carts used during the Jidai Festival. |
