TEXT:   This year is the 19th anniversary of the Benishidare Concert.
The weeping Benishidare cherry trees at Heian Jingu
Shrine’s Higashi-Shinen and Minami-Shinen gardens
are magically illuminated for viewing enjoyment. 
The Kihinkan guest house at Higashi-Shinen is the stage
for the live concert, which fills the spring night with the
sounds of various instruments.
The concert offers the perfect combination of live music and
beautiful cherry blossoms, only to be experienced at the
Heian Jingu Shrine in Kyoto.
PERFORMERS:  

April 5   Chen Min
Ms. Chen plays the erhu, a traditional Chinese upright
fiddle that is similar in sound to the violin.
April 6   Rio Yamase
Rio Yamase is a violinist and composer known throughout
the world. Her specialty is the hardingfele, an instrument
similar to the violin.
April 7   Hiroki Okano
Mr. Okano uses various instruments to describe nature
through the eyes of a Japanese.  On this occasion
he plays the flute.
April 8   Naoto Kono
Naoto Kono plays the zither, a family of stringed
instruments that includes the Japanese koto.
